WELCOME TO WHOOP & HOLLAR!
Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival is a multi-genre music and arts festival dedicated to showcasing and supporting local performers from Portage la Prairie and area, as well as performers from other regions of Manitoba and beyond. The festival is totally non-profit and 100% volunteer-driven, and can't happen without your support!
Whoop & Hollar welcomes everybody from local artisans to dancers, and from young performers to general music lovers. Festival goers are invited to play their instruments in the public jam sessions, and encouraged to engage in the festival program in whatever creative way they choose. Most importantly, the folk festival allows people to come as they are and simply be themselves.
The open and inclusive event strives to create a community built on love and peace, by bringing together people of all backgrounds and musical tastes to celebrate the local arts scene. Festival goers are provided with an opportunity to take what they need from the festival experience - this is the festival's way of giving back to the people of Portage la Prairie and welcoming others to our area!

Folk festivals can have tons of rules and all that other complicated stuff, but not Whoop & Hollar! We are a welcoming and intimate festival that strives to be as down-to-earth and straight-forward with our festival community as possible.
Your festival experience will be pleasantly shaped by your imagination from the moment you arrive at the grounds, and not hindered by an overwhelming load of responsibilities and concerns that tend to be present at larger music festivals.
Our festival team would still like to outline a few brief tips and guidelines to maximize the festival experience for everyone, but heck, that's about it...just come as you are! Whether you are strolling through the Artisan Alley marketplace, hiking Cottonwood Trail, picnicking in Pinewood Park, or lying back listening to some great music, come and have some fun and let's "Whoop It Up" this summer! There's something for everyone...
